The present invention discloses a locating method for use in a locating system (1) comprising a tag (T) and a locating infrastructure, wherein said locating infrastructure comprises an access point (AP) (Al, A2) and a server (5); and the method comprises the step that when the AP (Al, A2) has detected the tag (T), it provides tag information to the server (5); said server (5) sends characteristic parameter adjustment information to the tag (T) corresponding to said tag information via said AP (Al, A2) according to a locating requirement; said tag (T) adjusts its characteristic parameter according to said characteristic parameter adjustment information; and the tag (T) with the characteristic parameter adjusted is located. Furthermore, the present invention also discloses a locating system (1). The technical solution disclosed in the present invention is capable of obtaining satisfactory tag locating precision in various areas.
