<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical light source device using method capable of easily cutting a coated optical fiber, preventing a glass flaw to be the cause of folding down the optical fiber during optical irradiation to an organism tissue, and raising safety in the organism tissue. <P>SOLUTION: The medical light source device using method is the method using a medical light source device 1 provided with a light source part 10, the optical fiber 20, a handpiece 30, and a cutting utensil 40. The method includes: a holding process for holding the optical fiber 20 by the use of clamps 41a, 41b; an initial cut imparting process for imparting an initial cut to the side surface of the glass fiber by a blade member 42 from above the coating resin of the optical fiber 20; a bending process for bending the optical fiber 20 by a pillow 47 so as to cleave and form an emission end surface; and a releasing process for releasing the holding of the optical fiber 20 by the clamps 41a, 41b.
