PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm a position and a direction of a remotely operated robot on a display, and modify the displayed position and direction of the robot if necessary. SOLUTION: The robot 10 has a traveling body 11, video camera 12 turnably mounted on the traveling body 11, motor encoder 15, and angular velocity sensor 16. The display 22 of a remote controller 20 displays a video image from the video camera 12 and a map of an obstacle, thereby displaying a mark indicating the position and direction of the robot 10 in real time. The position and direction of the robot 10 are obtained by integration on the basis of information of the motor encoder 15 and the angular velocity sensor 16.
