PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air quantity estimating device for internal combustion engine capable of accurately estimating the cylinder-inside air quantity in an internal combustion engine comprising a supercharger. SOLUTION: This air quantity estimating device for internal combustion engine is used for an internal combustion engine having an intake path in which a compressor 91a and an inter cooler 45 are arranged. This device comprises physical models M2-M7 expressing action of air inside the intake path. At every computing point, this device estimates the pressure Pic by applying the pressure Pic of air inside the inter cooler, which is estimated at the last computing point, to the inter cooler model M5, and estimates the cylinder-inside air quantity KLfwd based on the estimated pressure Pic. In a light load operation, this device corrects the estimated pressure Pic so that the estimated pressure Pic approach the atmospheric pressure Pa detected by a pressure sensor 61. With this structure, in a light load operation, the estimated pressure Pic can be made to approach the real pressure. As a result, the cylinder-inside air quantity can be accurately estimated.
