A method and system thereof for restoring a virtual desktop. The method comprising generating a try-snapshot upon selection of a restore point of the virtual desktop, wherein the try-snapshot is an empty file; linking the try-snapshot subsequently to a snapshot of the restore point without modifying snapshots created after the snapshot of the restore point; and using the try-snapshot as an active snapshot upon affirmation of said restore point.
