The method involves imaging a test object (1) with regularly distributed dots (5) through a progressive-addition lens (3) by using a digital camera (4), where the dots are connected with one another through lattice lines. Images of the camera are subjected to scanning of the dots, and reference values for a proximity reference point and a remote reference point are determined. A position of an umbilical point line, value increase along the point line from the remote point to the proximity point and the deviation of spherical equivalent, astigmatic error and distortion are determined. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for determining an optical image quality of a progressive-addition lens.
