PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus and a recording method by which the fall of an image quality resulting from unevenness in drying of an ink can be suppressed regardless of the kind and the discharging amount of the ink. SOLUTION: The drying property of an ink which is imparted by a recording head to a specified standing-by time control region in an image forming region which should be formed on a recording medium is determined conforming to recording data. From the determination result, a standing-by time which is set between a preceding scanning and the following scanning is controlled in a plurality of scannings which are performed within the standing-by time control region.
