PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cleaning a mold for a tire that can suppress wear and damage. SOLUTION: This method for cleaning the mold for the tire includes processes for (1) arranging a plurality of segments 4 included in the mold for the tire, (2) expanding these segments 4 by heating to narrow each clearance between the adjacent segments 4, and (3) jetting an abrasive to the cavity faces of the segments 4. In this cleaning method, since the clearance between the adjacent segments 4 is narrowed by heating, the abrasive jetted toward the cavity faces can be restrained from entering the clearance. In this cleaning method, the abrasive is restrained from colliding with portions other than the cavity faces 12 of the segments 4, and the wear and damage of the segments 4 affecting the appearance quality of the tire can be restrained.
