PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inorganic fiber having excellent heat-resistance and body fluid solubility, and exhibiting remarkably low accumulation property when sucked into the body to suppress the deposition of apatite, etc. in the body fluid and to provide an inorganic fiber having remarkably low accumulation property in the body and suppressed deposition of apatite, etc. in the body fluid owing to excellent body fluid solubility when the inorganic fiber is crystallized by thermal history applied to the inorganic fiber or an article containing the inorganic fiber. SOLUTION: The inorganic fiber contains an SiO<SB>2</SB>component, a CaO component, an MgO component, and a P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>component, the sum of the SiO<SB>2</SB>component and the CaO component is 84.5 mass% or less, the content of the MgO component is 9-21 mass%, and the content of the P<SB>2</SB>O<SB>5</SB>component is 0.5-3 mass% based on 100 mass% of the total fiber components.
