PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for adjusting the number of knitting courses by which the adjustment of the number of the knitting courses can be automatically carried out when knitting a knit by connecting regions having different numbers of courses and sizes of mesh loops by a flat knitting machine, and to provide a designing device. SOLUTION: The region 12a is a large-number course region and the region 12b is a small-number course region corresponding to the numbers of the courses sandwiching the boundary 12c in the wale direction in a design knit 12 of (a). The regions 15a and 15b are knitted by base knitting courses 16 equal to the number of the courses of the region 12b in an adjusting knit 15 of (b). Additional knitting courses 17 in the same number as the difference between the regions 12a and 12b are inserted among the base knitting course 16 so as to be dispersed only in the region 15a side.
