The present invention refers to a method for producing viruses, selected from the group of flaviviridae, poxviridae and reoviridae and vaccines derived therefrom as well as to cells cultured under protein-free conditions. These cells show improved capabilities for propagating viruses, and eliminate the need for costly and time-consuming viral passaging und purification.
