PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for using a 90Sr-90Y milking method and producing a water solution containing yttrium 90 available as a therapeutic agent free of strontium. SOLUTION: Strontium 90 containing yttrium 90, and collagen are dissolved into a mild acidic water solution and neutralized with an alkaline water solution to precipitate collagen gel with a collagen-to-water weight ratio of 1:20. The collagen gel is washed with a 0.2 to 1 N strong alkaline water solution to elute strontium 90. The mild acidic water solution is then used to elute and recover yttrium 90 from the collagen gel, thus milking yttrium 90. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
