PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image quality from being degraded due to the positional deviation of a paper sheet when paper sheet holding force by a conveying belt is reduced, when sub-scanning and paper sheet discharging are separately driven. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus, when a sub-scanning motor 131 driving the conveying belt 31 conveying the paper sheet 5 and a paper sheet discharge roller 79 driving a discharged paper sheet conveying part 7 conveying the paper sheet 5 to discharge it are intermittently driven in synchronization in such a manner that drive completion timing of one driving period (ON time) of the paper sheet discharge motor 79 is delayed by a delay time t with respect to the drive completion timing of one driving period (ON time) of the sub-scanning motor 131, the delay time t is set to time t1, when an entrance detection sensor 331 detects the paper sheet 5 and is set to time t2 (t2<t1) shorter than the time t1, when the entrance detection sensor 331 does not detect the paper sheet 5.
