<p>Process for producing sulfuric acid from a gas containing sulfur dioxide comprises catalytically oxidizing the sulfur dioxide in a converter to obtain sulfur trioxide, and absorbing the produced sulfur trioxide in concentrated sulfuric acid in an absorber, where the inlet concentration of the acid to the absorber is 97.3-98.4% of sulfuric acid. An independent claim is included for a plant for producing sulfuric acid from the gas containing sulfur dioxide, in particular for performing a process, comprising a drying tower for drying the sulfur dioxide containing gas or air, a converter for the catalytic conversion of sulfur dioxide to sulfur trioxide and the absorber for the absorption of sulfur trioxide in concentrated sulfuric acid, where the acid is circulated in the drying tower and in the absorber, the drying tower includes an acid circuit separate from the absorber and that a crossflow conduit (4) is branched off from the acid circuit of the drying tower, which is connected with the acid supply conduit (5) of the absorber.</p> |
