<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical composition and related technology. <P>SOLUTION: A composition for use in an electrochemical redox reaction is described. The composition may comprise a material represented by a general formula M<SB>y</SB>XO<SB>4</SB>or A<SB>x</SB>M<SB>y</SB>XO<SB>4</SB>, where each of A (if existed), M, and X independently represents at least one element, O represents oxygen, and each of x (if existed) and y represents a number, and an oxide of at least one of various elements, wherein the material and the oxygen are cocrystalline, and/or wherein a volume of a crystalline structure unit of the composition may be different from a volume of crystalline structure unit of the material only. An electrode made of the composition is also described as is an electrochemical cell made of such the electrode.
