<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a double clad fiber, wherein leakage of exciting light is suppressed in a connecting part, even if the fiber is fusion-spliced to an optical combiner. <P>SOLUTION: The double clad fiber F includes a core 11, a first cladding 12 provided so as to cover the core 11, and a second cladding 13 provided so as to cover the first cladding 12. In the second cladding 13, there are formed a plurality of slots 13a, which are arranged so as to surround the first cladding 12, each of which extends in the longitudinal direction.
