<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a developing device which prevents developer from continuing to be conveyed on a developer bearing member, even after development and can make compatible both the prolonged service life of the developer and development (image formation) with high image quality which is free of image density unevenness. <P>SOLUTION: In the developing device 2, in order to form a residual developer removing region r, in which developer 208 having reduced toner concentration, after development is, dropped from a developing sleeve 202 into a developer storage tank 207b, on an outer surface of the developing sleeve; a residual developer removing pole p is put on a surface part of a magnetic field generating means 201; an electrode plate 212 is disposed at a position opposite to the residual developer removing pole p (in the vicinity of the developing sleeve surface); and a bias is applied to the electrode plate, to form an electric field of a direction in which carrier is peeled from a developer bearing member 204 (in which the carriers move from the developer bearing member 204 to the electrode plate 212). According to this configuration, the developer which ends up continuing to be conveyed on the developer bearing member, even after development, can be peeled from the developer bearing member by the force of the electric field, and the developer continuing to be conveyed on the developer bearing member even after development can be prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
