PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily enhance the quality of image data obtained by imaging an optical image projected on a light receiving face, in an imaging system. SOLUTION: If the maximum diameter of an effective region of a point image P1 projected onto the light receiving face 21 of an imaging element 20 through an imaging lens 10 is a size covering three or more pixels, a restoration coefficient K corresponding to the state of the point image P1 expressed by the first image data G1 output from the imaging element 20 is stored in a coefficient storage section 30. In a signal processing section 40, using the restoration coefficient K, a restoring process F is performed for the first image data G1 so as to generate second image data G2 equivalent to the first image data output from the imaging element 20 when the resolution of the imaging lens 10 is higher. The imaging lens has a first lens group, which includes at least one lens and has a positive power, and a second lens group, which includes at least one lens and in which a lens positioned closest to the image side has a negative power, in order from the object side.
