<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image editing apparatus that allows a user to easily perform filtering on image data. <P>SOLUTION: A destination information management unit 112 manages filter permission information 71 indicating the propriety of filter setting for each index recorded in index data 6 associated with destination information 7. A filter setting unit 113 creates filter setting data 8 on the basis of the filter permission information 71 and the index data 6. The filter setting data 8 are information wherein the index for which the filter setting is permitted and a filter pattern are made to correspond. A user performs filter setting to document image data 5 for each transmission destination using an interface for setting displayed on a monitor 21.
