The sensor has an evaluation unit evaluating a voltage pulse during movement of the metal brake wire (8). An arrangement of two permanent magnets (9) and a coil (11) are attached to a ferrous magnetic core (10), where the sensor is fastened to an area of the metal brake wire between a brake lever and a brake. The arrangement of two permanent magnets is arranged and is operationally non-contact with or in proximity of the metal brake wire such that magnetic field of the permanent magnets is closed over the metal brake wire, and the coil is flushed.
