The humpyard (A) has a distribution zone (V), a steep slope (S) and a rail brake (G) for spaced braking of sequential operations. The rail brake is arranged at beginning of the distribution zone facing the steep slope. A corner arc area is provided between the steep slope and the distribution zone, which exhibits an inclination between zero percentage and 0.4 percentage. An intermediate slope is arranged between the steep slope and the corner arc area. The steep slope passes directly into the corner arc area.
