<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein the operation of equipment is restricted during wait time since a video signal recording device has always waited for receiving a program start identification code in program-related information and a desired broadcast program ID from scheduled recording start time in a recording standby state conventionally. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 18 records a timed recording program longer by the maximum extension time acquired from the description of a character string indicating the maximum extension time of EPG, when determining that the broadcast start time of the timed recording program may become later by professional baseball broadcast broadcasted before that according to a timed recording list and the description of the character string of EPG.
