<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine control device for construction equipment capable of automatically performing control to eliminate insufficient turning speed of an upper turning body while improving fuel economy. <P>SOLUTION: In the engine control device 20 for a hydraulic shovel 1, to control the speed of an engine 6 of the hydraulic shovel 1 mounted with the upper turning body 3, an engine controller 21 confirms the operation amount of a turning operation lever 11 based on detection results by pilot pressure sensors 29a, 29b for right/left turning.
