PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor which can suppress an increase in generated heat even if a large current is applied, and can be downsized by efficiently utilizing an inner space. SOLUTION: A short circuit member 50 has a structure in which at least one part of a plurality of short circuit rings 52 for short-circuiting segments having the same potential are embedded in a cylindrical molded body 51 arranged around a rotary shaft and the short circuit rings 52 are stacked in an axial line direction in a state where the rings are insulated from each other. In the short circuit member 50, a plurality of through-holes 53 electrically connected to the segments and extending in an axial line direction are provided on each of the short circuit rings 52, a plurality of openings 54 capable of receiving the through-holes 53 of the other short circuit rings 52 are provided, and the openings 54 each have a size capable of avoiding contact with the through-holes 53 of the other short circuit rings 52 in a state where the plurality of short circuit rings 52 are stacked while deviating the through-holes 53 in a circumferential direction.
