PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for image signal switching that are capable of switching and recording with MPEG in a digital monitor system, and to provide a digital imaging camera and a monitor system that uses the method and device. SOLUTION: The monitor system, which uses an MPEG camera as an imaging camera capable of being synchronized, allows switching input of image signals, by configuring a plurality of the MPEG cameras connecting to switchers. In the monitor system, I frames are each extracted from the image signals (each of which includes an I frame and a P frame) sent out from the plurality of cameras, and a channel is shared in time division with the I frames output from the plurality of cameras. Thus, while frame is switched, even a digital image signal that randomly contains a frame which has a dependent relation with other frames, such as, a P frame and a B frame is received.
