PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine the occurrence or not of knocking even when great-strength vibration steadily occurs due to factors different from knocking. SOLUTION: An engine ECU executes a program which has a step (S210) of calculating an ignition-cycle variation of a 90°integrated value lpkknk calculated by integrating the vibration strength of an engine by a crank angle of 90°, a step (S222) of determining that knocking occurs when the variation of the 90°integrated value lpkknk is not smaller than a threshold valueΔknk (YES in S212), and a step (S216) of determining that no knocking occurs when the variation of the 90°integrated value lpkknk is smaller than the threshold valueΔknk (NO in S212), namely, a vibration waveform includes noises only.
