PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve durability without causing substantial mass increase. SOLUTION: The run flat tire 1 is equipped with a carcass 6, a tread reinforcing cord layer 7 and a cross sectionally crescent shaped side reinforcing rubber layer 11. The side reinforcing rubber layer 11 includes a rubber composition containing 5-120 pts.mass of nonmetal short fiber with a mean fiber diameter of 1-100 μm and a mean fiber length of 0.1-20 mm, and the nonmetal short fiber is arranged in a tire circumference direction. The carcass 6 includes a carcass ply 6A wherein carcass codes arranged at an angle of 45-90 degrees with respect to a tire equator are covered on pink rubber.
