The device has pistons (3) subjected to hydraulic forces in set of control pressure chambers and hydraulic forces in another set of control pressure chambers. One of the control pressure chambers of the former set is connectable with a tank volume (24) via a valve (15) and with a pressure medium source i.e. hydraulic pump (49), via another valve (16). The valves are simultaneously connected with the former set of control pressure chambers by hydraulic cylinders (2). The valves are designed as 2/2-way valves. Piston rods (4) are fixedly connected with a cabriolet canopy (100). Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a canopy of a cabriolet, comprising an adjusting bracket (2) a method for actuating a cover or a canopy of a cabriolet with a hydraulic actuating device.
