<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for fully erasing fluorescence and causing no formation of AOX(adsorbing organic halogen compound) and/or halogen gas and therefore free from environmental burden in the recycling treatment of fluorescent brightener-containing waste paper. <P>SOLUTION: The method for erasing fluorescence from waste paper or waste paper pulp involves the following process.
