PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a building member for a residence having a bending stress tolerance of more than necessary and reduced in material cost and mass. SOLUTION: A welded H-steel serving as a building member used for a structure for a residence uses steel plates each having a thick part formed by rolling only a load receiving portion to increase the cross sectional area of the load receiving portion.
