PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer capable of reducing noise. SOLUTION: This thermal printer includes a motor for feeding a thermal paper sheet and a heating element for applying heat to the thermal paper sheet, and is adapted to print a character or the like on the thermal paper sheet. In the thermal printer, a time difference between a time period until the heating element is overheated and a time period until the motor starts its rotation is obtained and a heating start time for the heating element is delayed by a time period equivalent to the time difference.
