The dryer (1) has a supply air duct (2) arranged in an upstream of a drying compartment (3) that is rotatable by a motor (22). A fan (15) supplies process air from a supply air inlet (19) to the compartment and to an exhaust air outlet (20). An exhaust air duct (10) is arranged between the compartment and the outlet. A heat pump is provided with a heat sink (14) in the duct (10) and a heat source (11) in the duct (2). The fan is arranged between the inlet (19) and the heat source, and another fan (16) is arranged between the source (11) and the compartment.
