Amine derivatives useful for treating ophthalmic diseases and disorders

Compounds of Formula (A) or (I), or tautomers, stereoisomers, geometric isomers or pharmaceutically acceptable solvates, hydrates, salts, N-oxides or prodrugs thereof. Z and X are a bond or various linking groups, G is -C(R41)2-C(R41)2-R40, -C(R42)2-S-R40, -C(R42)2-SO-R40, -C(R42)2-SO2-R40, -C(R42)2-O-R40, -C(R42)2-N(R42)-R40 or -C(=O)-N(R42)-R40 wherein each R40 is -C(R16)(R17)(R18), aryl or heteroaryl, R5 is C5-C15 alkyl, aralkyl, heterocyclylalkyl, heteroarylalkyl or carbocyclylalkyl and the remaining R groups are various residues. Preferred compounds are aminoalkylbenzene derivatives. The compounds may be useful in treating ophthalmic diseases and disorders, in particular Stargardt's disease and age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Pharmaceutical compositions comprising the compositions are also disclosed.
