The injector (11) has a hollow body (12) carrying a nozzle, and a metering valve (24) having a valve body (26) housed in a cylindrical seat (21) of the hollow body (12). The valve body (26) has a distribution cavity (39) for distributing high-pressure fuel to a control chamber (38) of the valve (24), whereas the seat (21) communicates with a cavity (13) at atmospheric pressure and in which the control rod (14) slides. The sealing device has an annular seal (52), which is compressed between two shoulders (53, 54) carried by the surface (22) of the seat (21) and by an outer surface (58) of a portion (59) of the valve body (26) so as to provide for redundant sealing between the two surfaces (22, 58). <IMAGE> |
