According to the invention, the video data to be processed and the configuration data are transferred to the module furnished with a configurable video processing unit via one and the same data bus. Several modules are advantageously chained in series on a common bus which transfers to each module both the configuration data and the video data to be processed. Preferably, dead time or "blanking" periods between two picture frames transmitted on this bus are used in order to insert the configuration data.
