An electronic evaluation circuit is provided so that signals are supplied by the turning position alarm unit and by the axial position alarm unit and the switch conditions. The signals are stored in a decision matrix and into switching signals for the control of the lighting system of the motor vehicle to be converted. Determined combinations of signals of the turning position alarm unit and the axial position alarm unit in the decision matrix are marked as errors. The determined combinations of signals of the turning position alarm unit and the axial position alarm unit in the decision matrix are marked as default switch conditions.</p>
