A multi-mode transflective liquid crystal display and a method for fabricating the same are provided to obtain high contrast and optical viewing characteristics by applying a VA mode to liquid crystal arrangement and an IPS mode to the transmitting unit. A method for fabricating a multi-mode transflective liquid crystal display comprises the steps of: preparing a first substrate(11) on which a reflective unit and a transmitting unit are defined; forming a reflective member that covers the reflecting unit of a first substrate; forming a first perpendicular alignment film that selectively covers the reflective member; processing the first perpendicular alignment film based on perpendicular alignment; and firming a first horizontal alignment film that covers the transmitting unit.
