<p>A discount service offering method and a system for performing the method are provided to offer the discount service by utilizing a mobile terminal as a marker terminal. A wireless communication unit(704) communicates with a marker terminal. A discount service unit(702) determines whether a portable terminal is located within the area of a preset range from a marker terminal. If so, the discount service unit requests a management server connected with the portable terminal to provide marker terminal information and a discount service.
