A method for manufacturing rare earth nano phosphor is provided to prepare rare earth nano phosphor with excellent luminous efficiency, and to control the shape of nano phosphor. A method for manufacturing rare earth nano phosphor has an average particle diameter of 50-600 nm, wherein the difference between an average particle diameter(D10) corresponding to percentage by weight of particles of 10% and an average particle diameter(D90) corresponding to percentage by weight of 90% is 80-900 nm. The rare earth nano phosphor is represented by M(2-x)NxO2Soy, wherein M is at least one selected from the group consisting of Y, Lu, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb, 0<=x<=2; N is at least one selected from the group consisting of Y, Lu, La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb, 0<=x<=2, 0<=y<4.
