A fuel level measurement apparatus within a fuel vessel and a method thereof are provided to measure various kinds of fuel levels in the fuel vessel because the information about the fuel type is conveniently initialized. A fuel level measurement apparatus comprises a capacitance sensor(310) including electrically insulated two electrodes, an electrostatic capacity measuring unit(320) measuring the electrostatic capacity of the capacitance sensor part, a controller(330) producing the fuel level filled with the fuel vessel based on the dielectric constant [permittivity] of the fuel and measured electrostatic capacity, and a comparing unit(340) which generates a warning signal when the calculated fuel level is less than the predetermined level. |
