An image display device and an offset control method are provided to control offset based on a black level of an inputted signal if an image with a level lower than an offset value is inputted, thereby preventing a black part from being buried in an image signal which is actually inputted. An image display device comprises a black level detector(100), an image processor(120), a display(130), and a controller(140). The black level detector detects a black level of an image signal which is inputted from outside. The image processor performs signal processing by setting an offset value of the image signal based on the black level detected by the black level detector. The display displays the image signal processed through the image processor. The controller outputs a corresponding control signal to the image processor so as to set the offset value of the currently-inputted image signal based on the black level detected through the black level detector. |
