An electro-optical device, a driving method thereof, a board manufacturing method thereof, and an electronic device having the electro-optical device are provided to divide one field into a plurality of sub fields and drive the sub fields, and improve the degradation of a contrast ratio or the deterioration of a gradation available expression number in converting alternatively the voltage of a common electrode. A common signal supply circuit(50) switches the voltage of a common electrode corresponding to a group, in which the supply of an off voltage in a specific sub field is terminated, from one side of a first voltage and a second voltage to the other side. A scanning line driving circuit shifts n scanning lines, which are selected in a next period, one by one by applying sequentially a selection voltage to selected n scanning lines, or selects sequentially plural scanning lines and applies a selection voltage to the selected scanning lines. The subfield of the shortest time except for a specific sub field among a plurality of sub fields parceling out 1 field is disposed next to the specific sub field.
