A joint assembly for flexible and semi-rigid piping (120, 220, 420) such as high density polyethylene piping or the like. The assembly comprises a joint end sleeve (110, 210, 410) and a nut (130, 230, 430). The joint end sleeve (110, 210, 410) comprises in series first (114, 214, 414), second (118, 218, 418), third and fourth co-axial sections of circular cross-sections. The fir st (114, 214, 414) and second (118, 218, 418) sections are to be disposed withi n the end of the piping (120, 220, 240). The nut (130, 230, 430), with an internal threaded surface (134, 234, 434), is made of a material harder than the one used in the piping(120, 220, 420) and with a higher or equal hardnes s than the one on the joint end sleeve (110, 210, 410). The nut (130, 230, 430 ) is configured to press the end of the piping (120, 220, 420) around the firs t (114, 214, 414) and second (118, 218, 418) sections
