<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element and a projection type liquid crystal display device that can meet standards for not only thermal retina trouble, but also optochemical retina trouble and are highly safe even when a laser light source is used, and electronic equipment. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display element includes a light source unit 1 having at least one laser emitting a laser light beam, a liquid crystal display panel 4 which has a microlens array including a plurality of microlenses and generates image light corresponding to an image signal, optical systems 2 and 3 which guide the laser light beam emitted by the light source unit 1 to irradiate the liquid crystal display panel, and a projection lens 5 which projects the image light by the liquid crystal display panel 4, projection power defined by the total angle of light convergence of the microlenses, the effective diagonal panel size, and the focal length of the projection lens being less than a reference value based upon laser light having a predetermined wavelength. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
