PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aromatic diamine-containing high polymer compound having high solvent solubility, exhibiting excellent storability in application for ink, and producing an element excellent in driving voltage, a drive life, and luminous efficiency in application for an element. SOLUTION: The high polymer compound has a repeating unit, which has weight-average molecular weight of 3,000-1,000,000 and is represented by formula (1), and its variance (Mw/Mn) of a molecular weight distribution decided by SEC (size exclusion chromatography) measurement is≤1.80. In the formula, Ar<SP>1</SP>-Ar<SP>5</SP>are aromatic hydrocarbon groups, which may have substituents, or aromatic heterocyclic groups which may have substituents, and X is a binding group.
