PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler of an overflow weir which does not obstruct the flow of water during flooding, which enables the easy maintenance such as the removal of floating matters, and which has excellent aesthetic appearance. SOLUTION: This muffler of a weir comprises an upper soundproof plate 6 secured to the upper end of a channel 1 and covering just above a derricking gate (overflow weir) 3, an upstream side soundproof plate 10 so hinged to the upper soundproof plate 6 on the upstream side of the derricking gate 3 as to be swung in the downstream direction and allowing a float 12 at the lower end to float to a water surface on the upstream side, and a downstream side soundproof plate 14 so hinged to the upper soundproof plate 6 on the downstream side of the derricking gate 3 as to be swung in the downstream direction and allowing the lower end to be submergible under the water surface on the downstream side.
