PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle body structure capable of transmitting an impact load from a pillar so as to distribute the load over a side sill. SOLUTION: A bead 11 provided to an outer face portion 7a of the pillar 3 has bead ridge lines 13A and 13B extending vertically. The bead ridge lines 13A and 13B are arranged downwardly so as to be spaced from adjacent pillar ridge lines 9A and 9B extending vertically, respectively. Thus, the impact loads transmitting along the pillar ridge lines 9A and 9B and the bead ridge lines 13A and 13B are distributed through portions between the pillar ridge lines 9A and 9B and the bead ridge lines 13A and 13B. Accordingly, the impact load is prevented from concentrating at welded portions 21 and 24 of a part of the side sill 2, and the impact load from the pillar 3 is transmitted so as to be distributed over the side sill 2.
