The invention relates to the use of UV-absorbers of formula (I) and/or formula (II), in which the radicals have the meanings cited in the description, as a UV-protection attachment in planar materials and/or lenses, that are transparent in the visible light range, for the production of an eye guard, an optical aid or a viewing window, an eye guard fitted with said type of planar material and/or lenses, a thus fitted optical aid or a thus fitted viewing window, in addition to a method for producing an eye guard, an optical aid or a viewing window comprising said type of planar material and/or a lens of said type.
