<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor for uniforming contact pressure of a metal terminal to an electrode pad, and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: This gas sensor has a sensing element 2, an insulator for insertion and holding, and a housing. The sensor element 2 has two pairs of electrode pads 21 at base end portions 22, and two electrode pads 21 are arranged in parallel on one electrode-mounted surface 23 and the other electrode-mounted surface 23, substantially parallel to each other of the sensor element 2 in the width direction of each electrode-mounted surface 23. The base end portions 22 of the sensor element 2 are gripped by a terminal unit 3, which comprises a pair of base-end-side insulators 31, metal terminals 32 arranged on the inner surfaces 310 of the base-end-side insulators 31, and one or two or more spring members 33 for pressing against the pair of base-end-side insulators 31 in the approaching direction.
