PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving force controller improved in drivability when travelling on an uphill. SOLUTION: A driving force controller is provided which obtains information on the gradient in a forward position from the present location from a navigation system, and calculates a gradient calculated value by using the gradient information within a predetermined range which has been established for every gear ratio. Then the driving force controller determines whether the calculated gradient calculated value exceeds a predetermined threshold value for every vehicle speed. When the driving force controller determines that the calculated gradient calculated value exceeds the threshold, it sets the gear ratio as a regulated gear ratio, and controls the gear ratio so that the regulated gear ratio which has been set, is not selected.
